Sapura Energy Berhad (“Sapura Energy”) is a global integrated oil and gas services and solutions provider operating across the entire upstream value chain. Sapura Energy’s spectrum covers exploration, development, production, rejuvenation, as well as decommissioning and abandonment.
Anvil has been engaged by Sapura Energy to pilot an innovative approach to talent development using a combination of personal coaching and online learning and development resources.
This pilot is carried out with a group of up-and-coming Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (“EPIC”) technical and project professionals who were selected by Sapura Energy for assessment and leadership development.
The pilot program consisted of an Anvil led on-site and on-boarding workshop, an Anvil leadership headroom assessment and the creation of an Anvil personal development plan for each member of the sample group. Anvil is currently monitoring the development of each member of the pilot group and providing one-to-one online coaching.
Irving Oil’s Refinery in St John, New Brunswick, Canada is one of the largest independent refineries in North America and employs over 1400 staff.
*Keith Lewis, one of Anvil’s Directors, was engaged by the St. John, New Brunswick, Refinery Leadership Team to steer and facilitate the development and role-out of a technical SME (Subject Matter Expert) program that would enhance the motivation, development and long-term retention of key technical specialists in the organisation.
The first phase of the program consisted of series of opportunity framing and needs assessment sessions with key leaders and technical specialists. Based on learnings from these sessions an overall, holistic Technical Capability Program has been developed which is enabled by a technical career framework. Within this framework, several levels of seniority and authority have been defined along with accountabilities and leadership expectations.
Anvil is now supporting the implementation phase of this program which includes the setting up of the management committee and the assessment and assignment of candidates to key roles.

Anvil Resource Solutions was engaged to support the Geosciences Division of EPI Group to promote its outsourced geoscience department offering to new clients across Europe. This successful campaign delivered over several months culminated in several new clients being introduced to EPI Group, outsourcing opportunities being identified and revenue generated.
The successful ongoing delivery of this service continues to be an important part of the EPI Group offering.
